After obtaining a PhD from University of Glasgow, Glasgow Dr. Siddiqui worked for more than 30 years in the field of teaching and research in Physiology, scholarly and institution building activities at premier institutions including prestigious Aga Khan University and Barrett Hodgson University, Karachi, Karolinska Institute, Stockholm and St. George’s Hospital Medical School, London. He possesses vast experience of research and teaching and administration, financial management while holding strategic positions.

 

He has also published widely in peer-reviewed impact factor journals, and has served on editorial boards of several journals including Advances in Physiology Education by American Physiological Society, where he  is Associate Editor  for over ten years. He is a Founding Member of Pakistan Physiological Society and South Asian Association of Physiologists (SAAP). He has served several academic bodies including International Union of Physiological Sciences and Federation of Asian & Oceania Physiological   Societies (FAOPS) at various scholarly committees.

 

Most recently, he served as the Founding Vice Chancellor of Barrett Hodgson University, Karachi and spearheaded its launch, starting from writing feasibility for Higher Education Commission (HEC), leading to academic and infrastructure planning (both curriculum and establishing laboratories) and development, induction of quality faculty from within Pakistan and advanced countries for nine programs at undergraduate level. Within months he successfully led to obtain NoC by the HEC and accreditations by Pakistan Engineering Council and Pakistan Council of Pharmacy, through to the first intake of students for University.

 

Over the years, Dr. Siddiqui has also planned, obtained research grants, won awards and raised funds for, and organized over 20 research and teaching workshops and conferences within Pakistan and in  South America, Europe, Middle East, South Asia and African countries. Currently he is serving as President SAAP and Chairman, Education Committee, FAOPS. Through HEC, Pakistan he remained involved in quality assurance and institutional performance review process for 22 universities in Pakistan.
